| Notes | Notification required by EU Directive 2009/148/EC on the protection of workers from the risk of exposure to asbestos. Generally, the removal of asbestos has to be done by contractors who are licensed to carry out this activity. However under certain circumstances, small scale occurrences of asbestos can be removed by non-licensed contractors.
This database records non-licensed notifications of work with asbestos. The information stored is: Date notification submitted, Location of work being notified, Which authority is responsible for monitoring Health and Safety at the location, In which LA the work is located, Asbestos type, Estimated quantity of asbestos, Number of workers involved, Start date and duration of work, Activity and process involved, Protective measures taken, Name and contact details for organisation making the notification, Field Operations Directorate (FOD) location There are approximately 15,000 notifications held on the database at present. The data contains some personal address and contact details. The notification data is retained for six months after the notified work commences. Data set covers Great Britain. |
