| Notes | The geological map of the bedrocks of Austria with tectonic lineaments covers an area of nearly 84.000 km2. The dataset on which the map is based is structured in two-levels hierarchy, a primary classification is made into tectonic units. Young sedimentary basins and fault-bounded magmatic rocks are also included in this hierarchy. Within this scheme, the text describing individual polygons provides details of lithological characteristics, in some cases lower-rank tectonic or chronostratigraphic terms are also given. However in these latter cases some lithological information is added. The chronostratigraphic ages of sedimentary rocks and low-grade metamorphic rocks are noted in the text. Tectonic lineaments include nappe boundaries classified into a two-level hierarchy, faults, and buried faults in the basement of the young sedimentary basins.
