|
Σημειώσεις | This file contains names and codes for Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics, level 3 (NUTS3) in the United Kingdom as at the 1st January 2012.
The Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) is a hierarchical classification of spatial units that provides a breakdown of the European Union's territory for the purposes of producing comparable regional statistics. There were originally 5 different NUTS levels but as from 11 July 2003, NUTS levels 4 and 5 became Local Administrative Units (LAU). The remaining NUTS levels 1-3 will be fixed for a few years but the LAU will not. NUTS and LAU are generally based on different levels of administrative geography. There are 139 NUTS 3 areas in the United Kingdom (99 in England; 12 in Wales; 23 in Scotland; and 5 in Northern Ireland). ONS have this product dated as at January 2012, but the official Eurostat terminology for this product is NUTS 2010. For further information on Eurostat dating of products, please see the link below. Please note that NUTS and LAU do not have the nine character codes as Eurostat use only there own five character codes. In addition, if your downloaded file is imported into Access, the delimiter will need to be set to 'double quotes', so records are displayed correctly. |
