Postcodes are the smallest “administrative” unit in Scotland. There are two types of unit postcode; large postcode units which receive at least 1000 mail items per day and small postcode units which specifies a single address or a group of delivery points within a locality. Each small postcode unit contains an average of fifteen adjoining addresses.
