Detailed morality statistics from 37 countries. From the website: > The Human Mortality Database (HMD) was created to provide detailed mortality and population data to researchers, students, journalists, policy analysts, and others interested in the history of human longevity. The project began as an outgrowth of earlier projects in the Department of Demography at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, and at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock, Germany (see history). ### Openness The data are open. However, the [providers do make several non-binding requests](http://www.mortality.org/Public/UserAgreement.php) for how the data are used. These include requests that the data be used for scientific purposes, attribution and that the download files are not shared (instead, users are asked to refer people to the website). |
