| Notes | The [CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme]( http://www.sepa.org.uk/climate_change/solutions/carbon_reduction_commitment/crc_scheme_background.aspx) (previously known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) is a mandatory emissions trading scheme effective from 1 April 2010. It aims to reduce UK carbon dioxide emissions by targeting large public and private sector organisations.
Organisations who consume at least 6,000 MWh of electricity on all half hourly meters must register, measure and report their electricity and gas related carbon emissions annually. Participants purchase allowances from the government to cover these emissions, allowances can be traded.
