Title
Dog Fouling Complaints (DFC) by Postcode District & Multimember wards
Notes
Data shows dog fouling complaints received at the contact centre of Glasgow City Council. The fields within the data include dog fouling complaints at: back-court closes, park/open spaces, public places (including parks) and streets. The figures represent the number of complaints received on a monthly basis between June to October 2014.

Approximately 10 tonnes of faeces is produced by dogs in Glasgow every day. This is clearly unacceptable and one which threatens the health of local community particularly young children. It is the most offensive type of litter on our streets, parks and backcourts and one which is constantly raised as a concern. Fixed penalty notices of £40 are issued under the [Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003](http://www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2003/12/contents) to offenders who let their dogs foul and do not immediately remove the excrement appropriately. This increases to £60 if not paid within 28 days. The 'bag it bin it' campaign is actively promoted throughout the city. Signs are mounted to lampposts and affixed in problem areas.

Data supplied by [Public Health group](http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3639) which is part of the Clean Glasgow campaign of Glasgow City Council.
