A Special School is [defined]( http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2007/01/Glossary) by the Scottish Government as a school where the sole or main purpose of the school (or stand alone unit) is to provide education specially suited to the additional support needs of children and young persons selected for attendance at the school (or unit) by reason of those needs.
