| Notes | Data shows domestic noise complaints received at the call centre within Glasgow City Council. There are two types of noise complaints received - domestic and non domestic. Domestic noise complaints as reflected in the dataset include noise generated by Amplified Music, Amplified TV, Animals (dog barking etc), DIY, Musical Instruments and noise generated as a result of Voices, Banging, Football etc. The figures represent the number of complaints received on a monthly basis between June to September 2014. The first approach of dealing with noise complaints is to confront a neighbour who is responsible for generating such noise. If the noise persists, then a complaint can be lodged which will be investigated and thereafter a warning issued. If after all efforts the neighbour does not reduce the noise to an acceptable level, a £100 fixed penalty notice can be served. In the event a fixed penalty is not paid, the case will be referred to the Procurator Fiscal (maximum fine £1,000) and the noise-making equipment can be removed from the offender's home if appropriate.
