The population data is distributed by statistical "Key Code Areas" that divides the municipality of Umea into a number of geographical areas. Data regarding the Key Code Areas was collected in december 2013. The Key Codes are very seldom changed. This is the key code that consists of two characters. The division into smaller key areas (using six characters) that gives a more comminuted division of the area of the municipality is not published.
