Notes | The Parental Responsibility Measures Attendance Census is a mandatory data collection for all 152 local authorities in England in respect of their use of penalty notices, parenting contracts and parenting orders to address pupils poor school attendance. The legal intervention measures are voluntary and were introduced by the Anti social Behaviour Act 2003. The measured are used to encourage parents to take responsibility to improve their children's poor attendance. The measures apply to all state-funded schools.
Schools can also use parenting contracts and penalty notices to address pupils' attendance problems. Local authorities are advised to include these in their data returns. The Parental Responsibility Measures Attendance Census is collected yearly in September following the end of the school academic year. It is published yearly in the following March. |
