| Notes | The Joint Council for Qualifications sends Ofqual a dataset containing the number of awards for general qualifications (GCSEs and GCEs) for both the summer and winter exam series. The information contains all awards from 5 awarding bodies, namely, AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC and CCEA. Awards are broken down by age, region, centre type and gender. We produce a dataset of awards from 1988 to summer 2013. We publish an aggregated version of this dataset on our website for all to use. Centres from England, Wales and Northern Ireland are included.
